The big night is upon us. Tonight the film FORGIVEN will be making it’s world premier at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. I think that it’s fair to say that we’re all giddy with excitement. Paul and Kelly have been on the move all day gearing up for the big night. Bill Ladd and Justin Colvin showed up today too, so now we’re two stronger in the FORGIVEN peanut gallery. Stay tuned for photos and more from the premier…

Sorry that it took me so long to get this up, but here it is. Hopefully I’ve got all the kinks worked out and we can start posting more photos.

Soup – Day 3

Category: Soups Daily Updates — ericsoup @ 3:13 pm

Oh what a great day. It really is nice to be here as an observer, but to still be involved with something serious that’s going on.

After a fairly leisurly morning, Steve, Nancy and I decided to go skiing. I haven’t skied in at least 15 years, and I really sucked back then. But everyone has always told me that skiing in the west was better, and you know what? They were right. I’ve never enjoyed myself skiing as much. After a quick refresher lesson from Steve, I was on my way, and by the end of the day wasn’t even falling. A new thing for me. It’s amazing how much fun it can be to careen down the side of a mountain with two sticks strapped to your feet when you’re you’re able to stay standing up.

Soup – Day 2

Day Two. Again busy from start to finish. Not too busy for the occasional glass of champagne or quick beer of course, but on the move most of the time. And this is from me, who is really here as part of the crowd. The head honchos, Paul and Kelly, have a million places that they HAVE to be every day. I’m just happily tagging along. God Bless ‘em.

Soup – Day 1

Well I’m winding down my first day. I’m not sure that I really have my mind around what’s going on here, but I’ll report what I saw.

We got up and had breakfast, before heading out to pick up our movie tickets. For those that don’t know, there was a lottery system for buying tickets. The lottery was for a time slot during which you would be able to buy tickets. Mine was pretty late in the process and almost everything was sold out, but I did grab a few.

Soup – En route

There’s nothing like riding along in a plane at 35,000 feet to make you really feel the effect that man has had on the world. As many times as I’ve flown coast to coast, there’s hardly every a time when you can’t see something manmade. Even over the wilderness of the Rockies, or the high deserts, something always seems to pop out as not being part of the “natural” order of things. A line that’s a little to straight to be a river, so it must be a road or an empty spot where there used to be a mountain top. I’m guessing that we’re currently crossing over Pennsylvania as I can see two nuclear power plans quite clearly from our current position. It’s always nice to have a new perspective…

Welcome to The Forgiven at Sundance Blog

Category: Soups Daily Updates — ericsoup @ 12:47 pm

Hello Friends. Soup here. Well, I finally got this blog thing up and running. I hope it turns out to be a smashing success.

Realizing that not everyone in the crew was going to be able to make it to Sundance this year, I thought that at the very least, I could try and keep everyone updated about what’s happening. And that’s what this blog is.

The festival runs from January 19-29. I’ll be posting updates on a daily, and possibly more frequent basis. I’ll try and get some photos up here too. So check back often for the latest and greatest news from the festival.
